Pairing your PM5

Connect Ergon to your erg's monitor over Bluetooth.

Pairing

  1. Tap the Bluetooth glyph on Home (it also appears on the workout editor and Coach screens). The Bluetooth panel opens.
  2. Tap Connect a monitor. Make sure your PM5 is awake — press any button — and within about 20 feet of your phone.
  3. Your monitor appears by name, e.g. PM5 430123456, with a signal-strength indicator. Tap it. Ergon connects, reads the machine type, and saves it.

Starting a workout while unpaired opens this same panel automatically, and the workout continues on its own once you're connected.

Permissions

  • iOS asks for Bluetooth access on first pairing.
  • Android asks for Nearby devices (Bluetooth) access; on Android 11 and older it also needs Location, which Android requires for Bluetooth scanning.

If you declined a prompt, the panel says so and gives you an Open Settings button pointing at the right place.

Saved monitors

Paired monitors are remembered. When you open Ergon with the PM5 awake and in range, it reconnects on its own.

Manage monitors (in the Bluetooth panel) lists saved ergs — tap a name to rename it ("Garage RowErg"), or Forget to stop reconnecting to it. With more than one saved monitor, a Switch monitor control appears.

Machine types

RowErg, SkiErg, BikeErg, Dynamic, and Slides are all recognized. On some older PM5 firmware the machine type can't be read and defaults to RowErg — correct it in Manage monitors.

Starting from the erg

You don't have to start workouts from the app. Walk up, set up a workout on the PM5 (or just row), and Ergon's live screen opens on its own and records the piece — provided the monitor is paired and connected.
