Weight class
What Concept2 needs
Concept2 files every RowErg, Dynamic and Slides result as heavyweight or lightweight. SkiErg and BikeErg results need no class.
When Ergon writes a workout to your Logbook, it sends the class with the result. With no class known, Ergon skips the write for those machines. It never guesses heavyweight.
How Ergon picks it
Ergon derives the class from two things: your body weight and your ranking category.
| Ranking category | Lightweight |
|---|---|
| Women | 135 lb or under |
| Men | 165 lb or under |
The cutoff is inclusive. 135.0 lb for women and 165.0 lb for men is lightweight. Ergon compares in pounds, rounded to 0.01 lb, even when your weight is in kilograms. Concept2 judges the class in pounds, so a kilogram rounding of the cutoff does not apply.
Set your weight and ranking category under Settings, then Body weight. The
class row reads the result, for example Lightweight · 164 lb · under 165.
Once a weight decides the class, you cannot edit that row.
Where the weight comes from
A weight you type counts. So does a weight from Apple Health, Health Connect, or a connected app. Ergon uses the most recent one. The row shows which source it used and the date.
The one override
If you are lightweight and race as heavyweight, turn on Compete as heavyweight. Ergon then files heavyweight.
There is no override the other way. A weight over the cutoff is heavyweight. Ergon refuses a declared lightweight in that case.
With no weight
If Ergon has no weight, or no ranking category, it cannot derive a class. When a Logbook write needs one, Ergon asks once: heavyweight, or lightweight at the cutoff for your category. Your answer is used until a weight decides the class. Choose Set my weight instead to enter a weight.
Near the cutoff
A weight within 1 kg of the cutoff, or an old weight, is still used. Ergon asks you to confirm it.
Not a weigh-in
None of this is a Concept2 weigh-in. Concept2 requires an approved scale within two hours of a record piece. Ergon picks the right default for a Logbook write. It does not certify a record.
